Kia’s Global Sales Up 12.3% in June

Kia’s global sales of commercial vehicles, recreational vehicles and passenger cars in June increased 12.3% to 242,790 units.

In general markets sales increased 9.8% to 47,875 units, in Korea sales were down 0.2% to 42,111 units, in North America sales increased 13.4% to 59,108 units, in Europe sales were up 24.4% to 55,248 units and in China sales increased by 13.9% to 38,448 vehicles. In June Kia sold 30,789 C-segment Cerato, 43,016 B-segment Rio, 19,527 Sorento mid-size CUV, 31,497 Sportage compact CUV and 22,546 D-segment Optima sedans.

Tae-Hyun (Thomas) Oh, Kia Motors executive vice president and COO, declared that the car maker is pleased to report strong double-digit cumulative growth in the first half of 2012 in some of the world’s major auto markets, such as North America, China and Europe.

“Given that our new product launch schedule for overseas markets is very much weighted toward the second half of the year - including our new flagship sedan and refreshed Sorento CUV - we look forward to the challenge of maintaining our global sales growth momentum throughout the remainder of 2012,” Oh said.
